You have always been there,
ever since I can remember.
You’ve protected me
in times I needed you most—
never saying no, not once,
although it felt as such at times.

You kept me safe,
providing me with comfortable uncomfortability.
Rather safe than sorry.

I tried to turn my back and walk away,
but you consistently showed up.
You have been my guardian,
enduring the most challenging battles—
my greatest teacher,
when lessons were tougher than needed.

You never gave up on me,
and I appreciate you.
